Online Resources for Stained Glass Artist

Over the past year I have scoured the internet in search of different resources for stained glass. Surprisingly, there aren’t many, but I’ve compiled a list of the sites I use often, plus a few that I consider essential to know.

I’ve broken the list down into three groups: Education, Supplies, and Entertainment. I’ll stay on the hunt for additional resources and keep this list updated.

Education

SGAA (Stained Glass Association of America)

SGAA is a great resource for stained glass artists. If you sign up for a yearly membership you’ll get their Stained Glass Quarterly with loads of inspiration and community information. The SGAA hosts a yearly conference where stained glass artists around the country meet to participate in workshops and seminars, and browse the newest innovations in the craft.

If you’re interested in advancing your stained glass knowledge beyond your home studio and computer screen, SGAA also provides yearly scholarships.

Real Glass Painting

David Willilams and Stephen Byrne of Williams & Byrne studio located in England have created a jam-packed online resource for the art of traditional glass painting. Their site includes eBooks, free online training videos, and more.

If you’re interested in the art of traditional glass painting, you can see all their courses here: The Glass Painters Method: Courses

Bullseye Glass Education

Bullseye offers a number of courses you can take, many that are online courses if you cannot attend the classes in person at their store locations. Almost all of their courses and videos cover working with warm glass, so this is more if you’re interested in incorporating fused glass into your stained glass works.

Online Supplies

If you don’t have a local stained glass studio that you can help support, or perhaps they don’t have everything you need, there are some create options for getting stained glass supplies online.

Anything in Stained Glass

Anything in Stained Glass offers the best prices on sheet glass and other stained materials and supplies. You can find sheet glass here for sometimes HALF the price as sites like Delphi, and they are committed to keeping their shipping costs as low as possible. I love Anything in Stained Glass!

Delphi Glass

This is where you can buy anything and everything you can possibly think of for your craft. Delphi carries all the major glass brands, and has any tool or piece you might need for specialty projects like lamps, garden stands, and more. However, I’ve found Delphi to be rather expensive so I will typically look for it on other sites first before buying here.

Stained Glass for Less

You aren’t going to find everything here, but for the price they have some great options! This is a great filler shop for those basic transparent or opalescent colors you’ll want to have on hand at all times. They also have a good selection of your basic bevel shapes and size at good prices.

Fremont Antique Glass

Based in Seattle, WA is this wonderful glass company that hand blows beautiful sheet glass. This is pricier artisan glass, but it’s so beautiful.

Entertainment

Cracked with Chevonne Ariss

Where do I even start? If you’re tired of listening to the same playlists over and over as you slave away in your studio – check out Cracked! You won’t be disappointed. I discovered this podcast almost exactly a year ago, and I’ve been staying up on every episode ever since.

In her podcast, talented stained glass artist Chevonne Ariss interviews other very talented stained glass artists around the country, and in some cases the world. She covers the topic of their inspirations, work/life balance, techniques, and so much more!

Talking Out Your Glass

I have only listened to a few episodes of Talking Out Your Glass so far, but they’ve all been great. This podcast has been around much longer than Cracked, so there’s a ton of episodes to go through. They also feature glass artists of all kinds including cold, warm and hot glass crafters.
