Hi Madelyn! Sorry my reply is so tardy. I’ve done a terrible at keeping up with this blog last year, but will be coming back in full force this year!

As for your questions, you apply the came first. Think of the came just as you do your solder. ,it’s all the metal elements of your piece. Once all of your center solder is complete, you add your came – and then you can proceed with the rest of the steps to finishing your piece. Hope this helps (and wasn’t too late)

Comment on Pricing Stained Glass Suncatchers and Panels by Kassie Rae https://theglasscreative.com/pricing-stained-glass-suncatchers-and-panels/#comment-151 Fri, 01 Mar 2024 23:04:37 +0000 https://theglasscreative.com/?p=1062#comment-151 In reply to Josh.

Hi Josh! Great question! It’s completely up to you on how specific you want to get. If you have a piece of 12×12 glass that you used in your project, and you used say – a 5×5 inch piece of it – you could get super detailed and divide the square inch by the total amount the sheet cost. This would give you a price per square in. OR if you’re like me and you’re a little more lax with your material pricing, you can simply use an average per square inch based on a typical price per a 12×12 sheet of glass. I do this and then charge more for artisan or one-of-a-kind glass. I’m actually working on a commission now where we discussed one price, but because the glass I ended up going with is far more expensive, the final price will go up. Just keep in mind it’s totally up to you. There’s no wrong way to do it πŸ™‚

I have a question. Concerning material cost of β€œglass” only for setting my retail sell prices. How can I determine my cost for individual glass pieces used in projects? Given the glass prices vary. Any advice greatly appreciated as I have several unpriced pieces unable to confidently price now for sell.

Comment on How To Apply A Lead Border to Copper Foiled Stained Glass by Jim Meade https://theglasscreative.com/how-to-apply-a-lead-border-to-copper-foiled-stained-glass/#comment-147 Tue, 27 Feb 2024 12:17:49 +0000 https://theglasscreative.com/?p=1504#comment-147 Kassie, your tutorial is so well done, thank you. I love the option to print for reference, but also have the video to view as well. I’m new to stained glass and it’s so infectious. I keep coming up with new ideas and even love making my own patterns. But I had a hybrid situation where I wanted the copper foil inside, but I wanted the strength and good looks of the lead outside. I’m so glad I googled my desire and came up with your video. Keep it up! We all thank you. Jim
