About TGC
This blog is a sanctuary for those who are captivated by the luminous world of stained glass. Here, seasoned artisans and budding creators alike are invited to explore, learn, and craft with light and color.
We are all drawn to this magical medium, where sharp edges come together in harmonious design. From architectural masterpieces to delicate suncatchers and custom window panels, each creation is a testament to what can happen when you break and join glass of all color and texture together.
All glass enthusiasts and creatives are welcome!
About Kassie Rae
Artist and Blogger Behind The Glass Creative
Hey there! I’m a Texas girl born and raised near the Gulf Coast, but these days I call central Texas home.
During the week, you can find me either elbow-deep in glass in my studio, or typing away here on the blog. When I’m not crafting, I’m probably outside playing in the dirt and fussing over my plants. Thanks to my wonderful grandmother and childhood caretaker, I probably love yard work a little too much.
On the weekends I moonlight as an entry-level LD (Light Designer) for live events like weddings and corporate shindigs. Let’s just say I’m no stranger to a busy schedule—and honestly, I kind of thrive on it.
I share my world with my hubby and our three fur-babies: Leela and Kitty (the dogs), and Pearl (our chunky cat). We’re a tight-knit crew, and adventure is our middle name when we can find the time.
I stumbled into stained glass by pure accident one day in the fall of 2021, and it’s been full-steam ahead ever since! Fast forward, and now I have a home studio where I’m breaking glass (and the occasional nail) on the regular.
My reasons for starting this blog were plenty. Mainly – I’ve just wanted a blog for the longest! Since 2016 to be exact. But I never had anything I was passionate enough about until I found glass. Now my brain is bursting at the seams of all the things I can contribute for fellow artists and lovers of the craft.
When I personally started out I was unable to attend physical classes, so I turned to YouTube University and Google to answer every question that came up. But half the time I got conflicting answers or, worse, none at all. The journey to get to the skill level I’m at now came by trial, error, and a whole lot of mistakes. If I can save you the same struggles, as well as the cash and frustration, then I’ll consider this blog a win.
Classes are awesome, but I know that not everyone has access to them—especially if you’re out in the sticks like I was growing up in rural Texas. So, if you’re one of those aspiring artists who need, or just wants to learn from the comfort of your own space, I hope this blog can be your go-to guide on your stained glass journey. Let’s break some glass together!
